The KENNAMETAL 4048734 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Built on the UCDE series platform, it runs a 0.75 inch diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that distributes cutting forces evenly and extends edge life in high-load finishing and roughing passes. Five flutes and a high-helix spiral geometry improve chip evacuation and surface finish. The AlTiN PVD coating provides oxidation resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting temperatures, making this tool well suited to dry or near-dry machining strategies.
This end mill is configured as a single-end, straight-cylindrical shank tool with a 0.75 inch shank diameter and a 4 inch overall length. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers running steel and hard-material workpieces at medium to high cutting parameters. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. It is specified for use with Kennametal HC hydraulic sleeves in 1/2 inch through 1-1/4 inch inch-bore and HC 20M through HC 32M metric-bore configurations, as well as HC-HSK Form A toolholders.
Specified for use with Kennametal HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves with metric bores and inch bores, and HC-HSK Form A toolholders. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H).
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the hydraulic or collet holder before clamping to the specified holder torque listed in the toolholder manufacturer documentation. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut - excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can cause premature failure with multi-flute carbide tools. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended depth-of-cut or feed-per-tooth for the workpiece material being machined.
