The KENNAMETAL 4048710 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the UCDE series platform, it features a 3/16 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix spiral configuration. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness, making it well suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in difficult workpiece materials. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this end mill balances reach and rigidity. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers will recognize it as a capable tool for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where precision corner geometry and extended tool life in tough materials are required. It targets steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials across both production and job-shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with ER single angle standard collets, making it straightforward to mount in common toolholding systems. Its long-length classification provides additional reach for deeper pockets and stepped features without sacrificing cutting stability.
Designed for use with ER single angle standard collets. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Standard 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank fits common CNC milling toolholders accepting that shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet holder. Confirm collet size matches the 3/16 inch shank diameter and that the collet and nut are clean and free of debris before clamping. Non-centercutting geometry means this tool is not designed for direct plunge operations — use ramping or helical entry instead.
