The KENNAMETAL 4047752 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry combined with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating delivers hardness and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The HPHV series designation indicates a high-performance, high-velocity design intended for aggressive material removal and fine finishing in a single tool. This end mill is installed and run by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing operations. The short-flute, extended-reach configuration makes it effective for slotting, profiling, and contouring where tool deflection must be minimized. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. It is compatible with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, making it a strong fit for hydraulic toolholding setups common in high-speed CNC machining centers.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (material codes P, M, K, H).
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts; excessive runout accelerates coating wear and edge chipping. Confirm cutting parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine spindle rating before engaging the cut.
