The KENNAMETAL 4047746 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, four flutes, and a 3/4 inch length of cut. The tool carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life during aggressive cuts. Part of the HPHV series, this end mill is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool suited for both roughing and finishing operations. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance profiling and corner detail are required.
This end mill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a straight cylindrical 5/16 inch shank, it fits standard tool holders used in production and job-shop environments. The extended reach geometry and long length type make it appropriate for deeper pocket milling and shoulder work where a standard-reach tool would not reach the workpiece floor. Machinists working with P, M, K, and H material classifications will find this tool applicable across a wide range of ferrous and hard-material operations.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves (inch bores), HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves (metric sleeves with inch bores), and ER single angle standard collets. The 5/16 inch straight cylindrical shank is the required interface for any of these toolholding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedures. Confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cutting direction of this tool before starting the spindle. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or burrs before seating the tool. Always refer to the machine tool manual and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool reach and runout.
