The KENNAMETAL 4047724 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Part of the HPHV series, it features a 0.25-inch diameter, a 0.0150-inch chamfer width at a 45-degree chamfer angle, and a four-flute variable geometry that supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The AlTiN PVD coating extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting action make this a standard drop-in for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped for centercutting operations. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists working in precision metalworking shops are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for a range of milling operations including shouldering, slotting, rampdown, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. Its 0.75-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length make it well matched to moderate-depth features in workpiece materials graded P, M, K, and H. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.25-inch diameter fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in production and job-shop CNC environments. This is a single-end tool, so it is replaced rather than reversed when the cutting end is worn.
Designed for use in standard 0.25-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials corresponding to material codes P, M, K, and H. Catalog reference number HPHV250S4075CH.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production run to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
