The KENNAMETAL 4047709 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Measuring 3/16 inches in diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, it runs four right-hand spiral flutes at a high helix angle for efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The AlTiN PVD coating delivers thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous materials at elevated speeds. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool is part of the HPHV series and is classified for both roughing and finishing operations. It is sized for use in straight cylindrical shanks and compatible hydraulic sleeve toolholding systems.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The extended reach geometry and long flute length make it appropriate for pocketing, profiling, and contouring operations where tool projection beyond the holder is needed. The HPHV series designation indicates a high-performance, high-velocity design targeted at shops running modern CNC machining centers at aggressive feed and speed parameters. A normal pitch and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional and climb milling strategies on these material groups.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, and ER single angle standard collets. Straight cylindrical shank diameter is 3/16 inches.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or turret is in a safe state before loading or removing the tool. Verify holder bore concentricity and clamp torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; confirm coolant delivery method matches the tooling configuration before initiating a cut.
