The KENNAMETAL 4047707 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built to the HPHV series specification, it measures 3/16 inches in diameter with a 5/8-inch length of cut and a 2.25-inch overall length. The 45-degree chamfer geometry produces a 0.0150-inch chamfer width, making it suited for edge preparation and chamfering on ferrous and hard materials. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during dry or semi-dry cutting. The four-flute, variable-index, right-hand cutting configuration supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Weight is 0.1 pounds.
This end mill is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in CNC machining centers running high-speed, high-feed programs. It handles a broad range of operations including shouldering, slotting, rampdown, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The centercutting design enables direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. Its straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet or end mill holders. Typical applications include precision component machining in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking shops where edge quality and tool life are critical priorities.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (material codes P, M, K, H). Fits standard 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical collet holders or end mill chucks. Part of the KENNAMETAL HPHV series; catalog reference HPHV188S4063CH.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
