The KENNAMETAL 4046526 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the F6AJ series, it features a 10 mm diameter, a 30 mm length of cut, and six helical flutes with a 45-degree helix angle. The cutting edges carry an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which extends tool life when working in elevated heat environments. At 79.98 mm overall length with a 10 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this tool fits standard collet and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers. It is intended for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction with a close pitch configuration in the KCPM15 material grade.
This end mill is suited for shouldering, slotting, rampdown, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, making it applicable across a broad range of production and job shop environments. The single-end, non-centercutting design places it in a finishing role rather than a roughing role. Machinists and CNC programmers working with close-tolerance part features will find the 0.30 mm chamfer width and extra-long length-of-cut classification useful for reaching into pockets and contoured part geometries.
The 4046526 belongs to the KENNAMETAL F6AJ series and carries catalog number F6AJ1000AWL45. It is designed for use in standard straight-shank collet and end mill toolholders accepting a 10 mm shank diameter. Verified workpiece material compatibility includes steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and hard materials (H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as solid carbide end mills are sensitive to excessive runout which degrades tool life and surface finish. Confirm cutting parameters against the KENNAMETAL F6AJ series application data for the specific workpiece material before beginning the operation.
