The KENNAMETAL 4046415 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 12 mm cutting diameter, an 18 mm length of cut, and a 3 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the tool tip and extends edge life. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry machining. This is a single-end, centercutting tool with a right-hand flute direction and high helix geometry. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC milling operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to material codes P, M, K, and H. The extended-reach geometry with a 36 mm reach length and 11.28 mm neck diameter allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. It is well matched to finishing passes on hardened workpieces as well as roughing applications where corner protection is critical. The 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into ER single-angle standard collet chucks, which are common on VMCs and HMCs across production and job shop environments.
Designed for use with ER single-angle standard collets. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (material codes P, M, K, H). Part of the KENNAMETAL F4AS series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool builder guidelines for collet chuck torque and runout verification. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing tooling. Confirm shank-to-collet fit using the stated shank diameter tolerance of +0.000 / -0.011 mm to avoid excessive runout. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and machine spindle power rating.
