The KENNAMETAL 4046277 is a solid carbide roughing and finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal combined with a quality finish in a single tool. Built to the F4AS series specification, it features a 16 mm cutting diameter, a 32 mm length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The corner chamfer end geometry reduces edge chipping at the entry point and extends tool life in demanding applications. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making this end mill well-suited for high-speed machining of ferrous alloys and hardened steels. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this tool fits standard milling setups requiring a 16 mm Weldon flat shank.
This end mill is used in precision machining environments where a single tool must handle both roughing passes and finishing passes. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling centers. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry, adding flexibility for pocketing and slotting operations. With an overall length of 92 mm and no extended reach configuration, it is suited for shallow to mid-depth features in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces across job shop and production settings.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill in the KENNAMETAL F4AS series, compatible with standard milling machine spindles and toolholders accepting a 16 mm Weldon flat shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before handling or changing end mills. Secure the Weldon flat against the setscrew in the toolholder to the toolholder manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
