The KENNAMETAL 4046263 is a solid carbide roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal followed by semi-finish passes in a single tool. Built on the F4AS series platform, it features a 4 mm cutting diameter, 4 flutes, and a corner chamfer end geometry that reduces edge chipping at the entry point of each pass. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and hard materials. With a 38-degree helix angle, the tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during full-depth slotting or side milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-path programmers install this end mill in machining centers and vertical mills.
The 4046263 is suited for ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless, and cast materials where a single tool must handle both roughing and semi-finish operations without a tool change. The 12 mm length of cut accommodates moderate axial depth passes, while the 55 mm overall length keeps the tool stiff enough to resist deflection in tight setups. The 4 mm straight cylindrical shank seats directly in collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or milling chucks with a matching 4 mm bore. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool appropriate for standard CNC milling programs.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and vertical mills accepting 4 mm straight cylindrical shank tooling; part of the KENNAMETAL F4AS series of roughing finishing end mills.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing any end mill. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the collet nut or set screw to the holder manufacturer specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; do not run a chipped or worn tool, as corner chamfer geometry is especially sensitive to re-entry damage.
