The KENNAMETAL 4045426 is a VPGR3305 KCU10 carbide profiling and turning insert designed for precision material removal on CNC and manual lathes. It features a parallelogram shape with a 35-degree included angle, an 8-degree relief angle, and a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces and promotes clean chip evacuation. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (9.53 mm), thickness is 3/16 inches (4.76 mm), and the corner radius is 0.20 mm (0.0080 inches). With 2 cutting edges and a PVD-applied KCU10 carbide grade, this insert is suited for high-productivity turning and profiling operations. It is installed and indexed by licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians.
This insert is built for profiling and turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The Top Notch series design uses a clamp-style holding method with neutral hand orientation, making it appropriate for general-purpose turning centers and profiling toolholders in both production and job-shop environments. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2179 inches, supporting both light finishing and moderate roughing passes. ISO code VCGR160402 and standard VPGR3305 designations apply.
Designed for use in Top Notch series clamp-style toolholders accepting VPGR3305 or VCGR160402 insert geometry. Conforms to VPGR3305 and ISO VCGR160402 standards for drop-in fitment with compatible holders.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the Top Notch series toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedures for insert orientation and clamp engagement.
