The KENNAMETAL 4045345 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WPGT15105UF geometry with KCU10 grade, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a TiAlN PVD coating that provides high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With an inscribed circle of 0.1875 inches, a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, and an 80-degree trigon (W) shape, it delivers tight tolerances and a controlled chip flow. Three cutting edges and a positive rake angle extend usable life per insert. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is suited for finishing cuts on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and finishing contexts where high wear resistance and edge consistency are required. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, making it appropriate for light depth-of-cut passes requiring close surface finish control. It mounts via screw-on holding method in compatible WPHT-style toolholders. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and internal boring on production parts in general machining and aerospace-type environments.
Designed as a screw-on replacement insert for WPHT-style toolholders accepting a 15105 insert size code. Conforms to ANSI insert code WPHT15105 and ISO insert code WPHTS30102. Suitable for use in turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and de-energize the machine tool before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
