The KENNAMETAL 4045343 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBGT331LF geometry with a KCU10 grade and PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius, and a positive rake and relief angle of 5 degrees. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. The insert is screw-on mounted with a neutral hand orientation and two usable cutting edges. The KCU10 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance with balanced toughness across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in toolholders matched to the VBGT style.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench for the insert clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — do not over-tighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the new insert.
