The KENNAMETAL 4045336 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation VBGT2205LF and ISO designation VBGT110302LF, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle, and a honed cutting edge style. It carries the KCU10 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel, stainless steel, and superalloy workpiece materials. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. With a 0.25 inch inscribed circle and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, this insert delivers precise, controlled cuts in demanding turning applications.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It is primarily targeted at machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, but the KCU10 grade also supports cast iron and aluminum applications. The positive side clearance and screw-on holding method make it compatible with standard VBGT-style toolholders. Machinists running finishing passes or light material removal cuts will find the LF geometry well-matched to tight tolerance work where surface finish is critical.
Designed for use in screw-on VBGT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholder systems accepting a 0.25 inch inscribed circle, 0.125 inch thick turning insert with a 35-degree diamond shape.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the screw-on clamping mechanism to avoid cracking the carbide substrate or stripping the mounting screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Never exceed the recommended depth of cut of 0.2903 inches as stated in the insert specifications.
