The KENNAMETAL 4045330 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation TPGT32505HP and ISO designation TPGT16T302HP, manufactured in the KCU10 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The triangular (60-degree included angle) insert geometry features a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and an 11-degree relief angle for reduced cutting forces during finishing operations. With a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2163 inches, this insert is designed for finish turning, facing, and boring where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for finishing-class turning operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for high wear resistance across this broad material range while maintaining moderate toughness. The screw-on holding method (Series: Screw-On) and neutral hand orientation make it compatible with standard TPGT-style toolholders used in both CNC lathes and manual turning centers across light industrial and production machining environments. Three usable cutting edges per insert extend service life.
Designed for use in TPGT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting ANSI size code 32505 or ISO size code 16T302 inserts. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm pocket and screw dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamping screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping force. Index or replace the insert when measurable wear, chipping, or surface finish degradation is observed; never regrind a coated carbide insert.
