The KENNAMETAL 4045325 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT style, designed for precision material removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a relief angle of 11 degrees, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The KCU10 grade is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The LF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during light to moderate finishing cuts. This insert is installed using a screw-on holding method and is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations. It is handled by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 4045325 is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The honed cutting edge style reduces micro-chipping on difficult-to-machine materials. Its positive rake geometry lowers cutting forces, making it well suited for thin-wall or low-rigidity workpiece setups. Applications include turning, facing, and boring in both production and prototype environments. The screw-on mounting system allows for quick, repeatable insert indexing without disturbing the toolholder setup.
Designed as a screw-on style TPGT insert compatible with TPGT-style toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S). Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards under industry standard number TPGT21502LF.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using the screw-on insert clamping method. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw and do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
