The KENNAMETAL 4045263 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT style, manufactured under the industry standard designation DCGT3251HP and ISO code DCGT11T304HP. Offered in the KCU10 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert is engineered for high-performance metal cutting in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge, which reduces cutting forces and promotes clean chip formation. The insert provides two cutting edges per piece and is held in place by a screw-on mounting method. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators in precision manufacturing environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for a broad range of turning operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light interrupted cuts in difficult-to-machine materials such as superalloys and titanium in addition to standard steels and stainless steels. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, making it compatible with standard DCGT-style toolholders used in production and job-shop CNC turning centers. The material grade rating of C3 and C4 covers a wide range of cutting applications from general turning to harder materials.
Designed for use in screw-on DCGT-style toolholders that accept inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 5/32 inch insert thickness, and 0.1732 inch hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Verify toolholder clearance code C and tolerance code G compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-and-die professionals. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert screw to the recommended seating torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
