The KENNAMETAL 4045246 is a DPGR432 KCU10 carbide profiling and turning insert designed for precision material removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a parallelogram shape with a 55-degree included angle, 8-degree relief angle, and a 5-degree positive rake angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches (12.70 mm), thickness is 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0312 inches (0.79 mm). The PVD coating process produces an uncoated finish under the KCU10 grade designation. With two cutting edges per insert, this part delivers consistent performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is held in place by a clamp-style insert holding method and has a neutral hand orientation.
This insert is suited for profiling and turning operations in both light and medium-duty applications. It is engineered to machine steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The KCU10 grade aligns with material grade classifications P10, P20, M10, M20, K05, K20, N10, N20, S10, S20, and H10. Typical use cases include contour turning, form turning, and finish passes on CNC turning centers in job shop and production environments. The common chipbreaker geometry supports a wide range of feed and depth-of-cut conditions within the insert's rated maximum depth of cut of 0.2035 inches.
Designed for use in DPGR-style clamp toolholders accepting a 432 insert size. ISO equivalent designation is DCGR150408. Conforms to standards DPGR432 and DCGR150408 as noted in the manufacturer specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge alignment.
