The KENNAMETAL 4045224 is a solid carbide turning insert with a CPGT3251LF geometry and KCU10 grade designation, designed for precision metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry, while the positive rake angle of 5 degrees and honed cutting edge reduce cutting forces during finishing and light machining passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert suits fine-finish operations where dimensional accuracy is critical. Installation requires a screw-on holding method compatible with CPGT-style toolholders.
This insert is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining applications, making it a practical choice for CNC lathe operators and tool room machinists working on close-tolerance components. Its neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it versatile across a range of toolholder setups common in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in CPGT-style screw-on toolholders. ANSI insert code CPGT3251; ISO insert code CPGT09T304. Multi-use application covering turning, facing, and boring operations. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is installed by machining professionals using CPGT-compatible screw-on toolholders. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine is powered down and spindle rotation has fully stopped. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and do not overtighten the screw. Index or replace the insert when surface finish or dimensional tolerance degrades, rather than waiting for visible chipping.
