The KENNAMETAL 4045214 is a solid carbide turning insert with an ANSI insert code of CPGT21505HP and an ISO code of CPGT060202HP, finished with a TiAlN (AlTiN) PVD coating for high wear resistance. Designated grade KCU10, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge for finishing operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, corner radius is 0.0079 inches, and insert thickness is 0.0938 inches. Two cutting edges are provided per insert, and the holding method is screw-on. It is suited to finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum workpiece materials.
This insert is designed for finishing applications in turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The HP chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at light depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0845 inches. The KCU10 grade delivers high wear resistance across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H, making it a versatile option for shops running mixed-material production work on steel and stainless components as well as superalloys and titanium.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for CPGT21505HP toolholders meeting ANSI and ISO CPGT060202 specifications. Compatible with screw-on style toolholders designed for 80-degree diamond inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle.
This insert is installed and indexed by machinists and CNC operators using a torx or hex key driver appropriate to the toolholder screw specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's screw torque guidance and do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for this insert geometry.
