The KENNAMETAL 4045211 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI code CPGM32505 and ISO code CPGM09T302, finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.375 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0079 inch corner radius. With grade KCU10, it delivers high to moderate wear resistance combined with adequate toughness for demanding cutting applications. Designed for neutral hand orientation and screw-on holding, it is suited to general turning, facing, and boring operations. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shops, production environments, and aerospace or energy supply chain facilities are the primary users.
This insert is intended for medium machining chip breaker conditions on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The CPGM32505 geometry supports turning, facing, and boring operations on both CNC and manual lathes. With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance, it is well suited to light-to-medium depth-of-cut passes, up to a maximum depth of cut of 0.1268 inches. The insert thickness is 0.1563 inches and the insert length is 0.3808 inches.
Designed as a screw-on OEM-style replacement turning insert for toolholders accepting CPGM32505 geometry inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Verify insert seating in the pocket and inspect the cutting edge for chips or damage before resuming operation.
