The KENNAMETAL 4045210 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPGM3250 KCU10 configuration, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that delivers high wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance, promoting free-cutting action and reduced cutting forces. With a 0.004-inch corner radius and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, it is suited for medium machining chip-breaker conditions. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on toolholders for turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is intended for use in medium machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum. It is classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H, indicating broad applicability across production turning environments, both light manufacturing and high-volume shops. The screw-on holding method provides repeatable indexing and secure clamping. With two cutting edges per insert, technicians can index to a fresh edge without removing the toolholder from the machine. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO insert standards (ANSI: CPGM32502, ISO: CPGM09T301).
Designed as a screw-on replacement turning insert conforming to ANSI size code 32502 and ISO size code 09T301. Compatible with toolholders accepting CPGM-style inserts in the 3/8-inch inscribed circle size. Verify toolholder pocket style and screw size before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC technician using the screw-on clamping method standard to CPGM-style toolholders. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or insert screw wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw without over-torquing. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and edge positioning.
