The KENNAMETAL 4045197 is a solid carbide turning insert with a CCGT insert style, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under industry standard number CCGT3252LF and ISO code CCGT09T308LF. It carries the KCU10 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which supports heat and wear resistance during high-speed cuts. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge. Machining professionals install this insert on screw-on style toolholders for turning, facing, and boring operations. It provides two cutting edges per insert.
This insert is designed for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material codes P, M, and S. The LF chip breaker geometry is suited for light finishing cuts where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are priorities. It fits screw-on toolholders that accept a CCGT 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert and a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. The positive rake and honed edge make it appropriate for lower cutting forces, which benefits thin-wall parts and workholding situations with limited rigidity. Typical applications include CNC turning centers and live-tooling boring operations in job shop and production environments.
Designed for screw-on style toolholders accepting a CCGT insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, and S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct screw torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and edge repeatability.
