The KENNAMETAL 4045163 is a VNMG332FF turning insert in grade KCU10, manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a sharp, narrow cutting geometry suited for finishing operations. It carries a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The FF chip breaker geometry is engineered for finishing cuts with a 20-degree rake angle and a honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert delivers consistent performance in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium, with secondary capability on cast iron and aluminum. The KCU10 grade characteristics emphasize high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, N, S, and H workpiece material codes. It fits KENLOC-series toolholders that accept VNMG-style inserts with a clamp-and-pin holding method. The negative side clearance and negative rake combine to provide edge strength during demanding finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4354 inches under appropriate conditions.
