The KENNAMETAL 4045143 is a VNGG332LF KCU10 solid carbide turning insert with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, designed for precision finishing and light machining operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style. With 4 available cutting edges and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches, it delivers consistent surface finishes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The KCU10 grade offers high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. It performs on a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, making it a practical choice when tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. It conforms to ANSI insert code VNGG332 and ISO insert code VNGG160408, fitting standard VNGG-style toolholding systems used across a wide variety of turning applications.
Designed to fit KENLOC-series VNGG-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code VNGG332 and ISO insert code VNGG160408. Compatible insert holding methods include clamp and pin. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert fully using the appropriate clamp or pin mechanism specified by the toolholder manufacturer before resuming operation. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate limits for this insert geometry.
