The KENNAMETAL 4045134 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CCGT21505HP and ISO designation CCGT060202HP, with a KCU10 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting geometry, while the positive rake angle of 15 degrees and honed cutting edge style reduce cutting forces during finishing passes. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, this insert is built for tight-tolerance, low-feed finishing work. It is installed as a screw-on style insert and is a neutral-hand, multi-use tool suitable for turning, facing, and boring.
This insert is intended for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials including aluminum, corresponding to ISO work material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The KCU10 grade delivers high wear resistance across these material groups while maintaining adequate toughness. Designed for use in screw-on CCGT-style toolholders accepting a size 21505 insert with a 0.1102-inch hole diameter. Compatible with ANSI and ISO standard toolholder systems. Verify holder pocket geometry and screw torque specifications against the toolholder manufacturer's documentation before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following standard toolholder manufacturer procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not overtighten or use impact tools. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage each time the insert is changed to maintain accurate seating and repeatable tool offset.
