The KENNAMETAL 4034774 is a solid carbide grooving insert engineered for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to KENNAMETAL Grade KCU10 with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear performance in both steel and cast iron applications. The G0305GMP geometry features a 3.05 mm cutting width and a GMP chip breaker profile designed to control chip evacuation in medium to finish grooving passes. A corner radius of 0.20 mm supports accurate groove wall definition. It is part of the Series A4 platform and is suited for shops running high-volume turning programs where insert consistency and repeatability are critical.
This insert is intended for grooving applications in production turning environments, including job shops and in-house manufacturing operations. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard grooving toolholders without left- or right-hand restriction. The maximum depth of cut range of 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm, with a maximum rated depth of 3.51 mm, positions this insert for medium-depth groove work. It is set up and changed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians. The multi-use designation indicates the insert supports grooving, turning, and profiling where toolholder geometry permits.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL Series A4 grooving toolholders. Insert size designation is 0305. Consult the KENNAMETAL A4 toolholder lineup to confirm shank size and clamping method compatibility before ordering.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the torque wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer for clamp screw tightening — do not use general-purpose drivers. Inspect the insert seating surface and chip breaker pocket for wear or damage during each insert change.
