The KENNAMETAL 3959612 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ISO designation EDCT10T302PDERLD and manufacturer grade KCPK30. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. The insert is parallelogram-shaped with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. With a thickness of 0.1476 inches and a width of 0.2657 inches, this right-hand, single-sided insert delivers two cutting edges per piece. It is compatible with the Mill 1-10 cutter series and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators install and index this insert during scheduled tooling maintenance.
This insert is designed for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material application codes P, M, K, and S. The LD chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip control across these workpiece materials. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and similar operations where consistent edge performance and coating durability are required. The KCPK30 grade and CVD coating combination positions this insert for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys as well as common ferrous materials.
Designed for use with the Kennametal Mill 1-10 cutter series. ISO code EDCT10T302PDERLD and ANSI code EC1002ELD confirm insert geometry for proper seating in compatible toolholders within that series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the machine locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified for the screw-clamp holding method to achieve proper clamping without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating the new insert.
