The KENNAMETAL 3884448 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. The drill uses a solid carbide tip with KC7410 grade and an AlCr PVD coating, paired with an HPCCL insert geometry and a 140-degree included angle. With a 24mm cutting diameter and a 12mm flute length, this drill is suited for applications where precision entry, tool life, and repeatability are critical. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on production machining centers are the primary installers and operators.
This replaceable tip drill is engineered for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium, covering ISO material grades P, M, K, N, and S. The helical flute design with a regular spiral and 2-flute, 2-margin configuration supports stable cutting and chip evacuation. Documented application capabilities include drilling on inclined exit surfaces and through stacked plates, making it suitable for complex fixturing scenarios in aerospace, die-mold, and general metalworking shops.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 4. The ISO number for this tip is KSEM2400HPCCLM. Compatible with machining centers and CNC lathes configured for driven tooling that accept standard KSEM body platforms in this seat size range.
Installation and replacement of carbide drill tips should be performed by qualified machinists following the machine tool builder and tooling manufacturer torque and seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the carbide tip. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new tip, as contamination can cause tip runout and premature failure. Verify tip seating and clamp engagement before returning the tool to service.
