The KENNAMETAL 3884444 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with KSEM modular drilling systems. It features a solid carbide construction with a PVD-applied AlCr coating and a 140-degree point angle suited to a wide range of metalcutting applications. The tip measures 0.8661 inches (22.00 mm) in cutting diameter and uses an HPCCL insert geometry with a clamp-style holding method. With a helical flute design and regular spiral, this tip is engineered for stable chip evacuation during through-hole and interrupted-entry drilling. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This drill tip is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. Typical applications include standard drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The KSEM series architecture allows the tip to be swapped at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in production runs. It carries Seat Size 3 and is compatible with KSEM drill bodies of the matching seat designation.
Designed for use with KSEM modular drill bodies accepting Seat Size 3 replaceable tips. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO P, M, K, N, S). ISO number KSEM2200HPCCLM identifies the specific tip geometry and size within the KSEM product family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating any replaceable tip. Use the correct KSEM torque key or clamp tool specified for Seat Size 3 to secure the tip without over-driving the clamp screw. Inspect the tip seat in the drill body for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new tip, as contamination in the seat will affect runout and tip life.
