The KENNAMETAL 3870472 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.375-inch (3/8 inch) cutting diameter and a 1.25-inch length of cut, this tool delivers consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 37-degree helix angle and three-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. The Micrograin carbide grade K600 construction provides the wear resistance and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. This is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for use in job shops, production machining environments, and toolroom settings where tight tolerances are required. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for the majority of vertical machining centers and CNC milling platforms. The uncoated bright finish makes this tool well-suited for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern, or where re-sharpening is anticipated. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly used in these environments.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill intended for use in standard 3/8-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon shank tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank, and torque the set screw or collet nut to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use.
