The KENNAMETAL 3867808 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built to the B272-HPS series specification, this bit features a 135-degree standard point angle, spiral flute geometry with a regular spiral type, and a bright uncoated finish. The 3/16 inch diameter (0.1875 inches decimal) bit delivers a maximum drilling depth of 3.8976 inches, making it well suited for precision work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking and industrial maintenance are the primary users.
This drill bit is intended for precision deep-hole drilling in industrial manufacturing, aerospace component work, toolroom applications, and CNC machining centers. The extra length design at a 21xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides reach into blind holes and deep through-holes where standard jobber or stub-length drills are not viable. Its right-hand cutting direction and tapered web configuration are optimized for chip clearing in tightly toleranced bores. A shank diameter of 0.1969 inches allows direct chuck or collet mounting in standard machine spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style extra length carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills equipped with collets or chucks accepting a 0.1969-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or unloading the bit. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and within tolerance for the 0.1969-inch shank diameter to prevent runout. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed and speed adjustments, and contact with hardened surfaces beyond the bit rating.
