The KENNAMETAL 3866263 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal removal applications. Built to Series AADE specifications, this single-end tool features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 3.125-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, making it well suited for deep-reach slotting and profiling work. The three-flute, 35-degree spiral helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright uncoated finish means the carbide substrate is exposed for direct application. Centercutting capability allows plunge entries. This tool is specified for right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction using Kennametal K600 micrograin carbide grade.
This end mill is used in machining operations where extended reach is needed without sacrificing rigidity. Typical applications include deep-slot milling, cavity work, and peripheral profiling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The extra-long length classification makes it appropriate for setups where standard-length tooling cannot reach the required depth. It is installed in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills by machinists and toolroom professionals. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER or side-lock toolholders commonly found in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill in the Kennametal Series AADE family, compatible with standard 0.5-inch diameter collet chucks, ER toolholders, and side-lock holders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque range for 0.5-inch shank tooling.
