The KENNAMETAL 3855561 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO code CNMG120408, designed for external turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KCP10 manufacturer grade, a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 that delivers high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With 4 cutting edges and a negative rake geometry, it is suited for roughing and medium machining passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring of steel and cast iron workpieces, covering both roughing and medium machining chip-load ranges as indicated by the MP chip breaker designation. The KCP10 grade is optimized for primary workpiece material codes P (steel) and N (aluminum and non-ferrous), making it a versatile choice for shops running mixed-material jobs. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with Kennametal KENLOC-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin insert-holding methods.

Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and de-energized state per applicable lockout-tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Kennametal KENLOC clamp or pin toolholder torqued with the manufacturer-specified wrench; do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Follow shop-specific feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material and machine capability; the maximum depth of cut supported by this insert geometry is 0.1691 inches as stated in the product specifications.
