The KENNAMETAL 3855210 is a solid carbide milling insert manufactured to ANSI code EP1404SGE and ISO code EDPT140404PDSRGE. It carries the KC725M manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, optimizing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling operations. The insert is parallelogram-shaped (EDPT series), right-hand cut, single-sided, with 2 cutting edges and a positive rake geometry at 20 degrees. The GE chip breaker and chamfered, honed cutting edge style are suited for stable chip control. Thickness measures 0.1772 inches and inscribed circle measures 0.3230 inches. Weight is 0.05 pounds per unit. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — corresponding to material grade codes P, M, and S. The EDPT series and 1404 insert size code place it in face milling and shoulder milling contexts where positive rake and a 15-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces on heat-sensitive or work-hardening materials. It is compatible with the Mill 1-14 cutter series. The screw holding method provides secure seating in the cutter body during high-feed passes. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Disengage spindle power and lock out the machine before handling or indexing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
