The KENNAMETAL 3781282 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running under the KCU10 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN PVD coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation suits standard radial grooving setups. With a 4 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.3 mm, it is sized for medium-duty grooving work where dimensional consistency and tool life are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments install this insert as a direct component of the Series A4 tooling system.
This insert is intended for use in Series A4 grooving toolholders. It fits applications involving ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a positive rake geometry and GUP chip breaker design help manage chip evacuation in tight grooving profiles. The 0.80 mm corner radius and the defined insert seat size of 4 support controlled surface finish at groove walls. It is suited to both job shop and production floor environments running metric tooling setups. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with Series A4 grooving toolholders. Insert seat size 4 with a metric measurement standard. Consult KENNAMETAL Series A4 toolholder documentation to confirm holder-to-insert fit before installation.
Installation of grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the appropriate insert clamp or screw torque driver as specified in the toolholder documentation — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
