The KENNAMETAL 3781254 is a solid carbide grooving insert engineered for precise groove turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the KCU25 manufacturer grade and an AlTiN PVD coating, this insert handles demanding cutting conditions with strong wear resistance and thermal stability. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a wide range of toolholder setups. Key cutting geometry is defined by a 3.00 mm cutting width, a 2.90 mm maximum depth of cut, and a 0.40 mm corner radius with a positive rake angle and GUP chip breaker style. It belongs to Kennametal Series A4 and suits machinists who need consistent, repeatable grooving performance on steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications on production turning equipment. The A4G insert style with GUP chip breaker geometry is suited to finish and semi-finish grooving passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Shops running metric-dimensioned tooling programs will find the 3.00 mm cutting width and overall length of approximately 20.00 mm (0.7874 inches) compatible with standard A4-series toolholder pockets. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Kennametal Series A4 grooving toolholders requiring an A4G0300GUP insert style with a 3.00 mm cutting width.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamp wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert; do not overtighten by hand force alone. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool geometry.
