The KENNAMETAL 3769428 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT3252FP geometry with KCU25 grade, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that supports moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle of 15 degrees. The FP chip breaker is optimized for finishing cuts. Two cutting edges are available per insert. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The CPMT3252FP KCU25 insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations. Its KCU25 grade characteristics make it applicable across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. The screw-on holding method and CPMT insert style are compatible with standard toolholders designed for the CPMT09T308 ISO designation and CPMT3252 ANSI designation. The positive side clearance and honed cutting edge style contribute to clean surface finishes in finishing-pass applications on a wide range of workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI designation CPMT3252 and ISO designation CPMT09T308. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 5/32 inch insert thickness, and a screw-on (hole-type) clamping method.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all motion locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex-key screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and edge integrity.
