The KENNAMETAL 3769417 is a CCMT3251FP screw-on turning insert in grade KCU25, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, promoting clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The carbide substrate is coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, providing moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited to finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert on screw-on style toolholders.
This insert is built for finishing applications including turning, facing, and boring. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys including titanium. The KCU25 grade offers a balanced profile of wear resistance and toughness, making it a versatile choice for shops that run varied materials. The neutral hand orientation suits standard right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups. Two cutting edges are available per insert, supporting cost-effective edge utilization on production runs.
Designed for use in screw-on style CCMT toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CCMT3251 and ISO insert code CCMT09T304. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys including titanium.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure before resuming cuts. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or wear debris before installing a new edge, as debris under the insert affects dimensional accuracy.
