The KENNAMETAL 3769412 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the ANSI designation WPMT15121FP and the ISO designation WPMTS3T104, and is manufactured to the KCS10 grade — a PVD AlTiN-coated carbide grade engineered for high wear resistance with moderate toughness. The W-style trigon geometry provides an 80-degree included angle and three usable cutting edges. The FP chip breaker is optimized for finishing cuts, and the honed cutting edge style supports consistent surface finish at light depths of cut. At a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm, this insert is suited to finish-pass and semi-finish turning applications where dimensional accuracy and surface integrity are priorities.
This insert is applied in turning centers and CNC lathes for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry make it compatible with a broad range of screw-on toolholders. The 3/16 inch inscribed circle and Screw-On holding method are standard across common WPMT-style holders. Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for screw-on WPMT-style turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications across the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before seating the insert, ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping seat are clean and free of chips or debris, as contamination under the insert causes premature edge failure. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-on clamp to avoid stripping the pocket thread — follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque value for the pocket size. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw condition at every insert index.
