The KENNAMETAL 3769406 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT332FP KCU10 configuration, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, delivering high heat resistance and wear life in demanding cutting environments. It carries a 35-degree diamond shape (V code), a 5-degree relief angle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. The FP chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge make this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where consistent chip control is required.
This insert is intended for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as the primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and steel. The neutral hand orientation and screw-on holding method make it compatible with standard VBMT-style toolholders used in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It is a multi-use insert appropriate for both manual and CNC turning setups in production and job-shop environments. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 5 inserts per order.

This insert is installed and indexed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the appropriate VBMT screw-on toolholder and clamping screw. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and tool geometry.
