The KENNAMETAL 3769386 is a TCMT3251FP solid carbide turning insert with an AlTiN (TiAlN) PVD coating in the KC5010 grade, designed for high-wear-resistance finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, controlling chip flow at shallow depths of cut. This insert is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is suited for light finishing passes on a range of workpiece materials, including stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, and cast iron. The positive side clearance and 7-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and heat buildup during finishing operations. With three usable cutting edges per insert, the TCMT3251FP geometry delivers consistent performance across turning, facing, and internal boring applications on manual and CNC lathes in both job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 3251 size code insert with a 0.173-inch (4.40 mm) mounting hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI insert code TCMT3251 and ISO insert code TCMT16T304, allowing fitment in any standard-compliant TCMT toolholder from any manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver or wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new edge to ensure proper contact and runout.
