The KENNAMETAL 3769356 is a solid carbide turning insert with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, designed for precision metal-cutting operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Designated by the ANSI code DCMT2151FP and ISO code DCMT070204, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The FP chip breaker geometry targets finishing passes, delivering tight surface finishes and controlled chip evacuation. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is 0.6104 inches (7.75 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). Two cutting edges per insert and a screw-on holding method make it a practical choice for high-volume turning environments.
This insert is rated for use across multiple workpiece material groups including stainless steel and superalloys (M), steel (P), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), and high-temp alloys (S and H). Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert pocket specifications for 2151 (ANSI) and 070204 (ISO) size codes. Suitable for multi-use turning applications including facing, boring, back turning, and back boring.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh edge.
