The KENNAMETAL 3769290 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT21505FP geometry with a KCU10 grade designation, finished with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is approximately 0.254 inches (6.45 mm), and the corner radius is 0.008 inches. Designed for the screw-on holding method, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials and is suited to finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert targets finishing cuts on stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials — reflecting a broad primary workpiece material range of P, M, K, N, S, and H classifications. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes where close tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. Applicable operations include turning, facing, and boring. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for use in a wide variety of toolholders that accept CCMT-style inserts.
Designed to fit toolholders accepting CCMT-style screw-on turning inserts per ANSI insert code CCMT21505 and ISO insert code CCMT060202. Compatible with holders requiring a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and screw-on clamping.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician on a CNC lathe or manual turning center. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or socket-head drive to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping load. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
