The KENNAMETAL 3769224 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation CPMT2151FP and ISO designation CPMT060204, and is manufactured in the KCM25 grade. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, providing high toughness for steel machining and moderate wear resistance for stainless steel applications. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, and the honed cutting edge style supports consistent surface finish at light depths of cut.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in production environments and job shops. It is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. The KCM25 grade is rated for high toughness performance on steel (ISO P) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on stainless steel (ISO M), with secondary capability on superalloys and titanium (ISO S). It installs via screw-on holding method, common in indexable toolholders designed for CPMT-style inserts. Each order ships in a package quantity of one insert, with a minimum order quantity of five.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for indexable turning toolholders accepting CPMT2151 screw-on style inserts per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and screw threads for wear or debris before seating the insert. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the intended cut direction before resuming machining.
