The KENNAMETAL 3769124 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT21505FP geometry, grade KCP25, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, which builds wear resistance while maintaining toughness across a range of cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge for clean, consistent finishes. The FP chip breaker is optimized for finishing operations, making this insert a direct choice when surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary objectives. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will recognize this as a standard screw-on style insert.
This insert is rated for finishing operations in turning, facing, and boring applications. Its grade characteristics target steel (P) workpiece materials with moderate wear resistance and toughness, and aluminum and non-ferrous (N) materials with moderate to high toughness. The neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it adaptable to standard right-hand toolholders configured for CPMT-style inserts. It is equally suited to short-run job work and higher-volume production turning where consistent finish quality matters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for toolholders accepting CPMT-style screw-on inserts per ANSI and ISO standards (ANSI: CPMT21505, ISO: CPMT060202). Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, and boring operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing an insert, power down the machine spindle and verify the turret is fully stopped. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat and clamp pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can affect insert position and surface finish.
