The KENNAMETAL 3766691 is a DNGA432T0420 KY4300 grade whiskered ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed material removal in demanding cutting applications. Carrying the KENLOC series designation, this uncoated, bright-finish insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 0.1875-inch thickness, and 1/32-inch corner radius define a robust cutting profile suited for aggressive depths of cut up to 13/32 inch. Four available cutting edges and a T-Land cutting edge style make this insert a practical choice for shops running superalloy and titanium workpieces at elevated surface speeds.
This insert is engineered primarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), where ceramic grades outperform carbide at high cutting speeds. Rated for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations, the DNGA432 geometry fits standard negative-rake KENLOC-style toolholders. The whiskered alumina SiC ceramic substrate delivers the thermal and chemical wear resistance required when cutting nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and similar hard-to-machine materials common in aerospace and power generation component manufacturing. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in these industries will recognize the DNGA432 as a standard insert size.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series negative-rake toolholders accepting DNGA432 geometry inserts. Compatible with ANSI insert code DNGA432 and ISO insert code DNGA150408. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on superalloy and titanium workpiece materials.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamp specifications - do not overtighten the clamping screw or pin. Verify the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating to avoid insert rocking and premature edge failure. When indexing to a new cutting edge, inspect the pocket and seating surface for wear or damage. Minimum order quantity for this insert is 5 pieces; plan inventory accordingly to maintain continuity of operation.
