Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3763725 is a solid carbide hexagon milling insert in the HNPJ series, designed for high-productivity milling of cast iron. It carries a multi-layer MTCVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 under the manufacturer grade KCK15, which targets wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert measures 0.6250 inches inscribed circle, 0.2189 inches thick, and features a 0.0472-inch (1.20 mm) corner radius with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With 12 available cutting edges on a double-sided, neutral-hand geometry, this insert delivers a high number of indexes per unit before changeover. HVAC, metalworking, and machining professionals install this insert in compatible face and shoulder milling cutters.

This insert is intended for milling cast iron workpieces in production machining environments, both in job shops and on manufacturing floor cells. The negative rake angle and chamfered edge prep provide edge stability when entering hard, abrasive cast iron grades. The GD chip breaker geometry helps manage chip flow at typical milling feed rates for this material class. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3379 inches, making this insert suitable for roughing and semi-finishing passes. It is compatible with the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series and is held in place by a screw-clamping method.

Key Features

  • Hexagon insert shape with 12 cutting edges for maximum index count per insert
  • Double-sided, neutral-hand geometry usable in both orientations
  • MTCVD multi-layer coating: TiN, TiCN, Al2O3 for wear and thermal resistance in cast iron
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge for stability in abrasive materials
  • GD chip breaker optimized for cast iron milling chip control
  • Screw-mount insert holding for secure, repeatable seating in the cutter body

Compatibility

Designed for use in the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series. Insert conforms to ANSI code HNPJ535ANSNGD and ISO code HNPJ0905ANSNGD. Compatible with screw-retained HNPJ-style cutter pockets. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (material code K).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machining professionals using the screw-clamp method standard to HNPJ pocket cutter bodies. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter manufacturer's specified insert-screw torque to avoid pocket damage. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or burrs before indexing to a fresh cutting edge.
