The KENNAMETAL 3761036 is a CNMG432UP indexable turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for steel, stainless steel, and superalloy and titanium turning applications. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating - TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD - that delivers high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. At 0.5077 inches (12.9 mm) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for medium to rough material removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. It is installed by qualified machinists on CNC and manual turning centers.
The 3761036 belongs to the KENNAMETAL KENLOC series and carries the ANSI designation CNMG432 and ISO designation CNMG120408. It is suited for roughing and medium machining passes on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpiece materials, with a secondary classification for superalloys and titanium (ISO S). The neutral hand orientation supports use in a wide range of tool holders. Four usable cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods make this insert a practical choice for high-volume production turning environments.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series tool holders accepting CNMG432 (ANSI) or CNMG120408 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin retention. Meets ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or insert screw driver specified for the KENLOC holder to achieve proper clamp or pin engagement without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the insert. Confirm secure seating and correct orientation before resuming cutting operations.
